Magdalena's Treasures & Iles Family Lavender Field First Year

Magdalena's Treasures & Iles Family Lavender Field First Year

As our business Magdalena's Treasures and Iles Family Lavender Field wraps up our first year, we look back at all we have accomplished. We had several goals for our first year in business and I am thrilled to say that we have accomplished everything on our bucket list.  We started with a dream and 15 acres of land and a ton of ideas.  Our family has a mixture of personalities and ideas, but what we all possesses is a strong work ethic.  We came together as a family and succeeded in getting our first lavender field put in. We planted over 250 tiny lavender plants, installed and set up drip lines, established a water schedule, fought the weeds and heat and dry hot summer to somehow be able to harvest not one but two small harvest of lavender.  We were able to dry our first two harvests worth of lavender and incorporate it in our homemade products.

We attended over thirteen Farmers Markets, Local Business Events, and Bazaars in our surrounding area.  We met a lot of people from many different communities. We met and chatted with new customers as well as other vendors and small farm owners like us. We learned so much from each event but also from all the vendors.  What a great community of people who are all willing to share their wisdom and help you succeed.  We were also so blessed to meet soo many local farmers who offered tips and ideas for our lavender business.

As our lavender field grew our Magdalena's Treasures business bagan to gain followers and customers.  Our homemade handcrafted, and homegrown items such as homemade goats milk soaps, candles, jewelry, wax melts, firestarters, hand-sewn goods began to sell and we loved getting the pointers and feed back on our products.  We added products, and focused on improving our goods, Our knowledge of navigating social media was truly a challenge but we have learned and continue to grown in knowledge.

The best accomplishment by far has been being able to work side by side with my husband, children, and grandchildren.  At the end of the day its not solely about what we may earn financially, but more about becoming more self sufficient, raising and growing our own food, clean living, and being able to help our family and our community, and do what we truly love to do.

As 2024 begins we are excited to continue on this uncharted journey, continue to grow and expand our business and knowledge.  We look forward to seeing you all down the road.
